Born Again AcademyPracticum
The practicum is a supervised field experience available to graduates who want guided support as they begin serving families.
What the Practicum Is
This structured experience helps doulas build practical confidence while serving families under Born Again Academy standards. It targets graduates seeking early experience in the field, mentorship and constructive feedback, development of professional records, and fulfillment of state-specific requirements where applicable.
What the Practicum Is Not
The practicum is separate from the 80-hour course and is not mandatory for certification. Graduates can complete their training and earn certification without participating. State systems may impose external requirements regarding birth attendance or client evaluations that differ from academy certification standards.
Prerequisite
Completion of "Community-based Perinatal Support and Childbirth Education" is required before enrollment.
What the Practicum Includes
Supervised experiences spanning the perinatal period: prenatal visits, birth attendance, postpartum visits, and client communication and support. All activities follow academy standards with evaluation feedback; the number of clients and experience types depends on individual needs.
Mentorship and Oversight
Mentored participants receive guidance including client evaluation review, feedback on professional conduct, documentation support, and state-specific pathway assistance.
