Community Perinatal Doula Certification
Born Again Academy offers an optional certification credential for doulas who complete their training program. Certification is for those who want a credential and are willing to be accountable to the Community Perinatal Doula standards.
Certification Benefits
- Post-nominal designation (CD(BAA)) to use after your name
- Certified logo/badge for marketing materials
- Optional listing in the "Find a BAA Doula" directory
- A credential with defined scope and standards
- Free continuing education pathway for renewal
Requirements to Become Certified
- Complete the Community-based Perinatal Support and Childbirth Education course with 80% or higher score
- Achieve 100% on the Standards Comprehension Quiz (open-document, retakes permitted)
- Agree to the Community Perinatal Doula standards through the certification application
- Submit a portfolio or business website for review
Standards to Uphold
Six standards documents define the credential, covering scope of practice, best practices, code of ethics, confidentiality & documentation, professional presence & infection prevention, and credential representation.
Recertification
Every 3 years, certificants must complete 12 continuing education units, submit documentation, reaffirm standards agreement, and update their portfolio/website. See the Doula Recertification page for details.
