Program Offered

Community-based Perinatal Support and Childbirth Education — a non-clinical training program preparing Community Perinatal Doulas to provide education, emotional support, comfort measures, communication assistance, and community resource navigation across pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

Delivery Format and Instructional Hours

80 total instructional hours delivered over 6 weeks:

• 50 hours independent online study — multi-media lectures, assigned readings, quizzes, discussion, and field project instruction.
• 30 hours live synchronous instruction — a four-day virtual intensive with guided discussion, demonstration, and hands-on practice.

Assessment

Student progress is assessed through multiple-choice quizzes throughout the course, applied field projects reviewed by an instructor, and instructor feedback on scenario and role-play work. Field projects require demonstrated skill — for example, delivering a childbirth education lesson, demonstrating infant feeding technique, and producing a community resource guide — rather than written book reports.

Certification

Completion of this training fulfills the primary requirement for Born Again Academy certification. Full requirements, including practicum and recertification, are published in the Certification & CEU Policy and on the BAA Doula Certification page.

Tuition, Refunds, and Cancellation

Current tuition and payment options are published on the Doula Training page. This section explains what happens when a student cancels, withdraws, or needs to reschedule.

Right to Cancel

A student may cancel within 3 calendar days of enrolling for a full refund of all amounts paid, no cancellation fee, regardless of the cohort start date.

Cancelling Before the Cohort Begins

• More than 14 calendar days before the cohort start date (before the registration and payment deadline): full refund minus a $250 non-refundable administrative fee, or a fee-free transfer of the full payment to a later cohort — the student's choice.
• Within 14 calendar days of the cohort start date, before the live intensive: 50% refund of tuition paid, or a fee-free transfer to a later cohort.

Cancelling On or After the Live Intensive

Once the four-day live intensive has begun, tuition is non-refundable. A one-time, fee-free transfer to a later cohort may be granted at the academy's discretion in cases of documented medical emergency or military deployment.

Program-Initiated Cancellation

If Born Again Academy cancels a cohort before it begins (for example, insufficient enrollment), every enrolled student receives a full refund or, if preferred, a fee-free transfer to the next scheduled cohort.

Optional Components

Certification, practicum, and Medicaid Registration Support follow the same refund schedule above, based on the cancellation date relative to the cohort start date. A component that has already been delivered (for example, a completed practicum placement) is non-refundable once delivered.

How Refunds Are Issued

Refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe. If tuition was paid through a Klarna or Affirm installment plan, the refund is returned through that provider according to its own terms; contact Klarna or Affirm directly with questions about how a refund affects your installment schedule.

Non-Payment

Access to course materials requires payment in full, or an active payment plan in good standing, by the cohort's registration deadline. A seat is not held past that deadline without payment.

How to Request a Refund or Transfer

Email support@perinatal.academy with your name, the cohort you registered for, and whether you're requesting a refund or a transfer. Requests are processed within 10 business days.
